On August 1, Apple announced its third-quarter results for the 2018 fiscal year. The report shows that Apple’s third-quarter net revenue was US$53.265 billion, an increase of 17% over the same period last year; net profit was US$11.519 billion, an increase of 32% over the same period last year. According to foreign media reports, despite Apple's strong performance in the third quarter of fiscal year 2018, multiple analysis reports show that the iPhone manufacturer has lost its status as the world's second largest smartphone supplier. Research companies such as International Data Corporation (IDC), Counterpoint Research, IHS Markit, and Canalys have all issued reports that in the second quarter shipment data as of June 30, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has surpassed Apple (Apple), leaping to second place. According to IDC’s preliminary data, Huawei’s mobile phone shipments in the quarter were approximately 54.2 million units, a year-on-year increase of 40.9%. Apple’s shipments were approximately 41.3 million units, an increase of 0.7% over the same period last year, which was lower than Wall Street’s expectations of the company’s 41.79 million mobile phones in the quarter. At the same time, Huawei and Apple also accounted for 15.8% and 12.1% of the market share respectively.
